What we hold of yours, and why.

A short, plain account of the data Akshara collects. Last updated 19 May 2026.

What we collect

Your email address. Nothing else.

If you subscribe to the newsletter or sign in to a member area, we store the email you typed in. We do not ask for, and do not collect, your name, phone number, address, payment details, or any device identifier.

We run no third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no Meta Pixel, no TikTok pixel, no advertising trackers, and no chat widgets that phone home. Your browser will leave normal request metadata at our edge — IP address, user agent, timestamp — which our infrastructure provider holds in rotating, short-lived logs for abuse prevention. We do not read those logs in the ordinary course of work.

Why we hold it

To deliver the thing you asked for.

Your email is held for exactly two reasons:

  1. To send the newsletter you subscribed to — daily darśana, weekly digests, occasional studio notes.
  2. To sign you in via a one-time magic link, if you have a member account.

That is the entire purpose. We do not sell it. We do not rent it. We do not share it with partners. We do not use it to build a profile of you across other sites.

How we hold it

A small set of reputable sub-processors.

01

Storage

Your email is held on a managed, encrypted cloud platform that runs our edge infrastructure. Confirmed subscribers are retained until they unsubscribe.

02

Outbound delivery

A reputable transactional-email provider delivers our newsletter, confirmations, and sign-in links. The provider necessarily sees the recipient address and message contents in order to deliver them.

03

Inbound mail

Anything you send to us at the addresses below is forwarded by our mail provider to a working inbox we monitor.

No CRM, no ad platform, no data warehouse, no third-party analytics.

Cookies

One, when you sign in.

Akshara sets a single first-party cookie, and only after you click a magic link to sign in. It holds your session for the member area and expires after a normal session window. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party cookies. The marketing pages set nothing.

Your rights

Remove, export, correct.

Every newsletter we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it removes you from the confirmed list immediately.

If you would like us to delete every record we hold of you, or to send you a copy of what we hold, write to privacy@akshara.guru from the email you signed up with. We will action the request within seven days and confirm when it is done.

If you live in the EU, UK, or California, the same rights apply under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection. The single email above is the route for all of them.

Children

Not for under-13s.

Akshara is not directed at children under the age of thirteen and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to privacy@akshara.guru and we will delete the record.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will say so.

If we ever start collecting something new, or work with a new vendor that handles your data, we will update this page and put a dated note at the top. Substantive changes will also be announced in the newsletter at least seven days before they take effect.
